Tips to be a success

September 21, 2007

Most of us live busy lives, when you are busy it is sometimes possible to not apply common sense actions to your lives.  Stress causes many people to make irrational decisions.  Which is why I want to share with you several common sense tips that will help you live a successful life.  Perhaps you can print out these tips and stick them in your wallet, purse or nap sack.  Or perhaps you can tape them on your wall at work.

Several years ago I was listening to nationaly syndicated talk show host Neal Boortz.  He was giving note worthy tips about life to people who needed some advice.  I wrote down his words of wisdom to share with people who might need some help in life.  But I did not know how and when I could share this information with people. I believe now is the time, and this blog is the means of sharing the information. But here is an early disclaimer.  These are some tips to help people in life.  There are some tips that have not been added, that should have been included.  But the tips that were presented are practical and useful so they are worth being shared, here they are:

*Hang you with the right crowd

*Make people around you feel big

*Do not keep score

*Do not use drugs and alcohol freely

*Save money

*Do not ignore your family

*Realize that the rules of reasonable, decent conduct apply to you

*Realie that there is such thing as truth

*Remember others count

*You do owe people stuff sometimes

*Never gamble with money

*Always clan up after yourself

*Respect age and experience

*Fighting the good fight is not always necessary

*Do not always do things your way

*Think the best of everyone

*Do not live above your means (do not buy a Cadilac Escalade when you can not afford to pay your water bill)

*People do not need your wisecracks

 *Learn usefull skills

*Learn self discipline

*Realize you are not the center of the universe

*Accept responsibiltity when things go wrong

*Do not crittisize early and often

*Be grateful

*Don’t think you are the source of all wisdom

*Do not envy everything, be appreciative

*Do not be a perfectionist

*Enjoy the simple things in life

*Do not fix any one and everyone all the time

*Treat good people good!  (Side note: I believe you should treat everyone with respect, not just good people)

*Try and stay away from discouraging people (Side not: But if you are in contact with these people respect them and try to be encouraging to them-even if they are not encouraging to you.

Sometime in the future I will embelish some of these pointers.  For right now though, think about these statements, and see whether you applying them to your life.  Knowledge is power; do you want to the power?

Laine From TVU

September 9, 2007

laine.jpgLaine is one of the many fantastic VJ’s on TVU music television.  She also hosts the Instant Request Service weekdays at noon eastern standard time on Radio U.  These 2 networks are part of Spirit Communications inc located in Colombus,Ohio.  She has a down to earth appeal and love for her job that made me wonder why she works for this company.  So I caught up with her and asked her about her job.  Here’s the interview:

How did you hear about TVU?

- I actually heard of RadioU first, since I lived in the Columbus, Ohio area. I heard of it through some middle school friends that listened. I eventually heard of TVU from going to RadioU sponsored concerts.

What made you decide that you wanted to be apart of TVU?

- I strongly believe in what’s going on here. In fact, if it wasn’t for RadioU, I wouldn’t know about a relationship with Christ. Because I found God through RadioU, I wanted to be a part of what RadioU (and TVU) were doing.

How did you become a DJ at Radio U?

- I started out as a volunteer for the street team and was asked to try out as a DJ.

How did you become a VJ at TVU?

- Once I was an established DJ, there was a need for VJs, so I was trained and became a VJ too.

What are some qualitites a potential VJ/DJ should have?

- Basically, one shouldn’t be afraid to mess up, because you will, and you’ll just have to get over it. Other than that, be yourself, otherwise TV and radio become boring!

What do you like most about your job?

- getting to hear new CDs before they come out, going to concerts for free, talking to people about how RadioU and TVU have affected their lives

Are there any humorous occurences that have taken place while at work?

- Something funny happens almost every day…

What are some of your favorite bands that are featured on TVU/Radio U?

- Relient K, Underoath, Showbread, Emery, House of Heroes

What are some of your favorite bands of all time?

- same as above, along with dcTalk and Five Iron Frenzy

Why should people watch TVU and listen to Radio U?

- The music is better than anything else out there and it will affect you POSITIVELY, while other stuff out there will bring you down.

What is the most important task you want to complete while working at TVU and Radio U?

- I’ll do whatever is needed to keep this thing going…so whatever that is, I want to do it.
