I am reading a book by leadership expert John C . Maxwell called Everyone Communicates Few Connect. The book is filled with advice about how to connect with people both individually and in groups. The best piece of advice in the book can be found on page 93, third paragraph. The advice tells how you can connect with someone one-on-one by increasing your energy. ”If you’re looking for ways to increase the energy one-on-one, then do what Margaret and I have done with each other for many years:
*Write on a piece of paper the significant things that happen to you during the day.
*For important things, tell no one else before sharing it with this specific person.
*Take time each day to go over your lists with each other, which requires intentionality and energy.
This advice is so practical and is something people can start doing right away. The hard part is consistently writing what you do down everyday and sharing it with the other person. But what a fantastic way to be open with someone and connect with them.
