I am approaching a crossroads in my life soon. Soon I will be graduating college. And I do not know what to do next. I do not know whether to pursue a masters, take certain classes, or what I should do to pursue some potential career paths. There are some possible options I am considering but I do not have a definite plan set up yet.
First of all let me tell you all what my professional passion is. My passion is to help people on an emotional level through the entertainment. There are three things I want to do as a profession. I would like to potentiality sing, act, and host a television show. Now I do not know if I will necessarily be involved in each of these professions. But I could potentially see myself working in any or all of these occupations. I find that each of these avenues reach people on an emotional level. If the content of each of these professional endeavors are done in a positive level they can boost people’s spirits. Of course these avenues are not replacement for professional counseling. But these avenues can help people blow off some steam and make people feel happy.
I do not like seeing people sad. I have seen people are sad. And there sadness makes me sad for them. That is why I want to get into the entertainment industry. To make people feel happy. To let people know that life is not so bad. And they should not always take it so seriously.
The first job I want to talk about pursing is acting. The occupation I want to pursue more than any of the others is acting. But I do not know how I should prepare of a potential career in acting. I have limited experience but feel that I have a talent for it. Should I go to acting school? My home town is Raleigh, North Carolina. Are there acting schools in that area? What are the prerequisites for joining an acting school? Are all of them auditioned base? How do you prepare for an audition?
The second job I want to pursue is singing. I would like to sing in a contemporary style either in a band, choir, or just sing by myself. But I do not know how I would pursue a singing gig. Should I start taking voice lessons, make a c-d demo, and tour coffee shops for a while? I do not know what I should do. But I know I love to sing. You can touch a persons heart through song better than any other avenue. And I would love to touch peoples hearts through a medium of communication that I enjoy using.
The final job I would like to pursue is hosting a television show. The show would be similar to the late night shows on cable television. But I would like to host the television show through the internet. I can do or say whatever I want on the internet (within reason). There are no media bigwigs saying I can or can not do this. I suppose a sponsor would have some say in what goes on in the show, but their rulings would be less than working for a television rather than producing my own television show on the internet.
These jobs would be done to showcase God’s creativity through the arts through one of his vessels-myself. If anyone has any advice as to how I should go about pursing these avenues please let me know.
